It is our privilege to invite you to Prague to take part in the 7th Meeting of the EASD Study Group on the Genetics of Diabetes (EASD-SGGD) that will be organised from the 16th- 18th of May 2019.
It will be our pleasure to welcome you to Czechia, the home country of Johann Gregor Mendel, the inventor of modern genetics, and Jan Evangelista Purkynje, the founder of the first Institute of Physiology, in the facilities of Charles University in Prague. Our university was founded by Charles IV, the Czech king and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire in 1348 as the first university located north of the Alps and east of Paris.
The host institution of the 7th EASD-SGGD meeting will be the 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, that is focused on research in Paediatric Medicine and Genetics. The meeting will take place in our hospital premises at the University Hospital Prague-Motol.
You may know that the mission of SGGD is to promote research into the genetic basis of all forms of diabetes, as well as to promote the interaction and transfer of knowledge between basic scientists and the clinical community. Also, at its 7th meeting in 2019, the participants will gain the opportunity to present and discuss the latest achievements in the field of genetics of diabetes, its complications and related conditions, and their impact on medical understanding and the improvement of patient care.
We are convinced that you, together with other leading genetics of diabetes experts, will contribute to an excellent scientific programme which would include a mixture of keynote lectures, invited talks, and oral and poster presentations. We hope that you will not only enjoy the science and novel medical knowledge, but also the charm of our city of Prague, spanning from its medieval history to the vibrant present and promising future.
See you in Prague in May 2019!
